# XMigrate - XReplicator

> XMigrate builds XReplicator, a unified backup, replication, and migration platform for Linux and Windows servers. Block-level incremental backups, centralized repository, S3-compatible cloud sync, and Azure-to-Azure disaster recovery orchestration with failover and failback workflows.

XReplicator protects server workloads at the block level. Agents run on client machines (Windows NTFS, Linux ext4/XFS), track changed blocks, and send incremental snapshots to a centralized backup server. The backup server stores protected backup data in a local repository that can optionally sync to S3-compatible object storage for off-site retention.

Version 1.3.1 adds Azure-to-Azure disaster recovery orchestration with blueprint-based failover, precheck validation, DR target disk preparation, operation history, and controlled failback. In measured Azure DR drills on a VM with a 30 GB OS disk and a 4 GB data disk, failover completed in under 40 seconds with attach-as-is disks and around 70 seconds when creating disks from snapshots, once staging disks were healthy and synced.

## Core Capabilities

- **Block-level incremental backup**: Only changed blocks are read, deduplicated, compressed, and stored; backup windows track change volume, not total disk size
- **Centralized repository**: One backup server stores snapshots from all agents; compactor mode handles retention and consolidation
- **Cross-cloud restore**: Portable backup storage enables recovery across cloud and on-prem targets without vendor lock-in
- **Instant recovery**: Restore by scope: file, partition, or full device; chain-aware recovery for incremental snapshots
- **Cloud sync**: Off-site replication to S3-compatible object storage for long-term retention and archival
- **Azure-to-Azure DR orchestration** (v1.3.1): Blueprint-based failover with disk-to-VNet mapping, strict prechecks, attach-as-is and snapshot-based strategies, and failback workflows
- **Web-based management UI**: Centralized dashboard for backup policies, snapshots, restore operations, DR workflows, and operation history
