The challenge

Four steps from backup status to recovery evidence

  1. 01

    Protect one test server

Use a representative non-production Windows or Linux VM. Connect it to XReplicator and complete the first backup.

A completed restore point is visible in the web UI.

  2. 02

    Verify the restore point

Run metadata or sample verification for a quick check, or full verification for stronger evidence.

The verification result and mode are recorded.

  3. 03

    Restore one known file

Choose a file with known contents and restore it to a safe temporary destination outside production paths.

The recovered file opens and matches the expected content.

  4. 04

    Capture the evidence

Record the workload, restore point, verification mode, destination, elapsed time, and any manual dependencies.

Another operator can understand and repeat the test.

Evidence record

Write down what the green check cannot tell you

Keep the record short and factual. It should expose weak access, missing dependencies, and slow manual steps while they are still cheap to fix.

  • Protected machine and operating system
  • Restore-point ID or timestamp
  • Verification mode and result
  • Restored file and safe destination
  • Start time and usable-file time
  • Unexpected access, network, or operator steps
